Policy positions

A Bright Future For Woodcliff Lake

1. Implement a Weekly Town Newsletter and Calendar of Events.

Too often important information is not reaching our residents as they are forced to “pull” information from various social media sites. We pledge to implement a weekly town newsletter offering a calendar of events and need to know information sent via email, “pushing” information to all our residents so they know what is happening in the community.

2. Install Fiscal Discipline. Expand Our Tax Base.

Over the last two years, our municipal taxes have risen significantly. We pledge to instill fiscal discipline back to our town budget. We also pledge to work hard to seek out new businesses, such as Mayor Rendo did attracting Party City and Whole Foods to Woodcliff Lake.

3. Improve Our Recreational Facilities/Offerings.

Our baseball and softball fields are in bad shape. Our tennis courts have cracks. Our children and our residents deserve better. We pledge to work with our town sports programs and develop a plan to improve our recreational facilities, including the potential addition of outdoor basketball courts, and to provide more recreational offerings, including community events, to our residents.

4. Preserve the Residential Character of Our Town.

Over the last year we have seen proposals to look into bringing a marijuana dispensary to town. Such development does not fit with the tree-lined residential nature of our town. We pledge to always oppose a marijuana dispensary in Woodcliff Lake.

5. Complete Construction of Galaxy Gardens Park.

The park sits as a vacant eyesore in the center of town. We have one shot to develop a world class upscale park we can all be proud of. We pledge to get construction of the park moving again.

6. Provide our Police the Necessary Technology to Fight the Surge in Burglaries and Car Thefts.

New technologies such as automated license plate readers give our police an edge in fighting the recent surge in burglaries and car thefts. We pledge to work with our police department and provide the necessary technology to fight this rise in crime.

7. Expand Curbside Recycling Pickup.

We pledge to expand curbside pickup of recycling to twice a week. It’s a small thing, but our Borough needs to work harder to expand services and make government work for you
